Automatic gas control for anesthesia system

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

MAQUET FLOW-i  is now available with optional Automatic Gas Control (AGC). The new AGC option provides staff with an advanced prediction tool for improved efficiency and ease of use in the administration of anesthetic gas delivery. The unique AGC prediction tool with speed selection allows the user to forecast a time to reach the end-tidal agent target level while AGC automatically controls the gas delivery more efficiently than conventional anesthesia systems. AGC smoothens the anesthesiologist’s workflow by freeing up time that can be devoted to other aspects of the clinical care of the patient. MAQUET FLOW-i  with AGC improves the oxygen delivery control during anesthesia by a single FiO2 setting which efficiently provides the specific oxygen concentration to the patient. Furthermore, the standard O2GUARD reduces the risk of hypoxia.

Direct connectivity for patient dedicated arterial blood gas analyser

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

A new functionality has been added to the Proxima patient dedicated arterial blood gas analyser to allow direct connectivity to hospital information systems. This is crucial in the efficient management of patient data generated by the Proxima system and enables point-of-care coordinators and other laboratory staff to remotely monitor the use and performance of this new analytical in-line system being used directly at the patient’s bedside. The new enhancement ensures that all patient test data for blood gas and electrolyte measurements, as well as system quality control data, can be transferred via an Ethernet connection to the hospital information network. This direct data transfer uses the standard HL7 communication protocol format that is easily integrated into information management systems, such as the Laboratory Information System and electronic Patient Data Management Systems. The CE-marked Proxima supports proactive patient care, particularly at critical times, since it enables rapid and frequent measurement without leaving the patient. This is possible as the Proxima sensor is a miniaturized version of a blood gas analyser that is integrated directly into the patient’s arterial line, meaning that all blood is returned to the patient. Operated using the dedicated bedside monitor with touch screen interface, the system provides simple, clear routines guiding the user. Patient results are then displayed clearly on this monitor and also electronically transferred for permanent record within information management systems.

SPECT system

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The Symbia Evo Excel SPECT system is a new version of the successful Symbia E. Symbia Evo Excel that combines industry-leading SPECT image resolution and detector sensitivity with the smallest room size requirement in its class. Designed to fit into almost any existing nuclear medicine exam room, Symbia Evo Excel virtually eliminates costs associated with room renovation and expansion. With a high-capacity patient bed, larger bore size compared to previous systems and highly flexible detectors, the system is optimized for obese or critically ill patients and increases the variety of applications a healthcare institution can offer. With a room size requirement up to 29 percent smaller than for conventional systems in its class, Symbia Evo Excel fits in a room as small as 3.60 m (11 ft 8 in) x 4.57 m (15 ft). The system improves patient comfort with a 30 percent larger bore [102 cm (40.2 in)], compared to its predecessor, and a high-capacity patient bed that supports patients up to 227 kg (500 lbs). The bed also improves accessibility for patients with limited mobility with a convenient minimum access height of 53 cm (21 in). The exceptional detector flexibility allows imaging of critically ill patients on a gurney or in a hospital bed. Additionally, the short tunnel length and maximum scan length of up to 200 cm (6 ft 7 in) improves patient comfort for claustrophobic and tall patients. The detector heads easily rotate into numerous positions, including caudal/cephalic tilt, providing comprehensive imaging configurations for general purpose, cardiology, oncology and neurology studies. Symbia Evo Excel addresses the demand for a cost-effective modernization option for nuclear medicine departments looking to avoid renovation of existing infrastructure.

Wall gas-independent ventilator

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

This turbine ventilator will be used at hospitals in parts of the world that do not always have access to air from wall outlets. Throughout the entire development project Maquet worked together with physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists from the regions where the product was expected to be used, for example, India, South Africa, Japan and the USA, to ensure a great user experience. An addition to the SERVO line, the SERVO-air wall gas-independent ventilator can be used in the ICU as well as in intermediate care, for invasive and noninvasive ventilation. Built-in features like context-based guidance, on-screen information and dynamic images can guide the users in applying advanced ventilation every day. The turbine offers a high flow and pressure capacity, which is crucial to provide comfortable ventilation to sick and hard to ventilate lungs. At the same time, it is surprisingly quiet, which helps keeping noise levels down. Thanks to the battery powered turbine and hot-swappable batteries, SERVO-air is set to follow the patient easily throughout the hospital. SERVO-air is also a strong choice for the growing trend towards non-invasive ventilation (NIV), reducing the need for separate dedicated NIV ventilators.

Transport ventilation for neonates

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The Hamilton-T1 with neonatal option is a high-end transport ventilator that provides the best possible ventilation therapy for the smallest and most vulnerable patients. During transport, the Hamilton -T1 delivers the same performance as a fully featured NICU ventilator at the bedside.  Supporting tidal volumes of just 2 ml, the Hamilton -T1 uses a robust neonatal flow sensor that accurately measures pressure, volume, and flow proximal to the patient. This guarantees the required sensitivity and response time, and prevents dead space ventilation. Therefore, the patient is better synchronized and the work of breathing (WOB) is reduced. The new neonatal expiratory valve can balance even the smallest differences in pressure and offers the neonate the possibility to breathe spontaneously in each phase of a controlled breathing cycle.  In addition to all modern neonatal ventilation modes, the Hamilton -T1 offers a new generation of nCPAP.  In the new nCPAP-PC (pressure control) mode, only the desired CPAP target value for the patient is defined and the ventilator automatically and continuously adapts the required flow to the patient’s condition and possible leaks. Thanks to the demand flow technology, the patient will receive only as much flow as is necessary to obtain the set CPAP target. This reduces WOB, reduces the need for user interventions and ensures optimal leak compensation.

Portable POC hemoglobin analyser

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The Hemo Control point-of-care (POC) diagnostics analyser provides laboratory accurate hemoglobin and hematocrit results in one simple test. The new hemoglobin POC analyser enables full upgrade with data management functionality as required, giving the user complete flexibility over their future connectivity options via its bi-directional interface. Using the new LIS2-A2 communication standard, this bidirectional interface allows the analyser to connect directly to third party software and enable simple integration with LIS (Laboratory Information System) middleware. LIS2-A2 succeeds the ASTM communication standard commonly used for small to mid-size analysers and is easier to integrate than POCT-1A. Available as a cost effective basic device which stores up to 4000 patient results, the new Hemo Control offers enhanced on-board Data Management (DM) functions following upgrade with the DM

HIS module for intensive care

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Compared with patients in the regular ward, charts in intensive care are much more complex, in view of the special requirements that apply there. In addition to the standard vital parameters, they include information on cardiac and respiratory function. The new ‘Critical Care’ module in the Soarian HIS, available in numerous countries, takes care of these requirements. Data from intensive care monitoring devices feeds automatically into the digital chart, which gives healthcare personnel a rapid overview of the patient’s condition. Unlike dedicated departmental systems for intensive care, Soarian ‘Critical Care’ is fully incorporated into the HIS.This means that information from intensive care can be viewed in the recovery or regular wards, depending on authorization levels. For instance, staff there can read
