The RDS-30 Series is an essential rapid disinfection system that eliminates deadly pathogens MRSA, CRE and C. diff in only 30 seconds. The RDS-30 Series is designed for the rapid disinfection of shared tools and electronics in hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics and other healthcare facilities. It is made to be used daily for disinfecting a wide range of patient care, administrative, diagnostic and entertainment tools; from medical tablets to cell phones, keypads to TV remotes, the RDS-30 Series disinfects all surfaces in less than 30 seconds. The system may be purchased alone or as part of a comprehensive Spectra254 UVC light disinfection system. The RDS-30 Series is compact, powerful and fast and has the ability to disinfect both wired and wireless handheld devices as well as shared tools. The device uses six custom built UVC germicidal bulbs to eradicate pathogens. RDS-30 Series systems are compact enough to be used on a counter top at a nurse’s station or on a mobile cart that is moved from room to room. They feature a 1-click start and reset for easy use. The RDS-30 Series’ultra pure quartz shelf allows UVC wavelength to reach the underside of an object. A visual, audio and a digital display provide information about each decontamination cycle. The system is operated with easy to use controls on the unit itself. Spectra254’s comprehensive decontamination range of products includes the Spectra 1000 Series mobile room sanitizing system and the Spectra 500 medical transport sanitizing system, in addition to the RDS-30 Series. Multiple analyses performed for Spectra254 in independent scientific testing documented that UVC light from Spectra254’s systems is highly effective (greater than 99 percent) in killing MRSA and C. difficile spores on solid surfaces and in disinfecting surfaces over a range of exposure times and distances. A recent study shows the system is 99.9 percent effective at killing an Ebola surrogate on surfaces at a distance of up to 9 meters.

Neonatal ventilator

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

With help from the SERVO-n ventilator, neonates can be supported noninvasively and the need for intubation reduced. Every breath the baby takes is determined by its own physiology. The ventilator provides synchronization with the baby’s irregular breathing pattern. It reduces the work of breathing, lowers peak pressures and FiO2, and potentially reduces the need for sedatives. More comfortable breathing means better opportunities for sleep. Improved comfort and reduced work of breathing may allow the baby to focus energy on growth and maturation of lungs and brain.

3D navigation system enhances minimally invasive treatment of vascular disease

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The VesselNavigator is a 3D catheter navigation system to guide the minimally invasive treatment of patients with vascular diseases such as aortic aneurysms. It is designed for use in conjunction with Philips’interventional X-ray systems, enhances the precision and accuracy of stent placement, while at the same time significantly reducing contrast medium usage. As a result, minimally invasive treatment options will be available to patients previously unable to benefit from new image-guided intervention techniques. Developed in collaboration with clinical partners such as the University Hospital Cologne (Germany) and the University Hospital Ghent (Belgium), VesselNavigator complements Philips’current imageguided therapy portfolio within the field of endovascular and hybrid suite solutions. It addresses the need for advanced 3D live-image guidance solutions, as the treatment for vascular disease is experiencing a major transition from open surgery to minimally invasive procedures, with such procedure volumes growing at high single-digit rates. During endovascular procedures a catheter is manoeuvred, with the aid of image guidance, through major arteries or veins in order to locally position and deploy implants such as stents to reinforce the wall of the affected blood vessel. Using conventional 2D X-ray image guidance, clinicians oft en perceive the visualization of the vessel anatomy during these procedures as if a dimension is missing, adding to procedure complexity. Many are more familiar with open surgery, during which they can physically see and touch the blood vessels they are trying to repair. VesselNavigator brings back the 3D anatomy they were used to seeing in open surgery. It can be used for all types of endovascular procedures, but one of its key applications is guidance during the treatment of aortic aneurysms, which if left untreated could lead to severe complications such as massive internal bleeding. At the location of the aneurysm, the aorta oft en has smaller side branches, such as those that supply blood to the patient’s kidneys. Custom-made stents are therefore oft en made with dedicated openings that need to be precisely registered with these feeding vessels in order to repair the aorta and maintain critical blood flow to other abdominal organs. With conventional X-ray imaging it is very challenging to position the stent in the precise orientation. Endovascular aortic aneurysm repair is therefore a very complex procedure, and the more time it takes, the more contrast medium is needed for X-ray visualization and guidance in order to succeed. Vessel- Navigator fuses live interventional X-ray images with pre-acquired 3D MRI or CT images of the patient’s vascular structures. The resulting 3D colour-coded images of the vessels provide enhanced real-time visual guidance, making it easier to manoeuvre through the vascular network without the need to enhance the X-ray visualization with the repeated use of an injected contrast medium. In recent studies, VesselNavigator has been shown to reduce contrast medium usage by 70% and procedure times by 18%, contributing to more patient friendly, more efficient and more cost effective treatment of vascular conditions. With a growing population of elderly and diabetic people who suffer from poor kidney function, reducing contrast medium requirements will open up endovascular treatments to a wider range of patients. The strong growth in image-guided therapy procedures is driven by the significant benefits they off er for healthcare systems and patients, including reduced patient trauma, shorter hospital stays, and lower healthcare costs.

Entry level radiography system

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The new RADspeed fit provides easy operability and extensive functionality, reducing exposure levels while supporting a wide range of general radiographic applications, such as chest, abdomen or extremities, and including emergency examinations. Furthermore, it can be combined with either a digital or analogue image processing system, making it ideal as an entry level digital radiography (DR) system equipped with a digital X-ray detector (FPD) or even complementing an existing CR or DR environment. The ultra-compact RADspeed fit radiographic system provides outstanding technology with best-in-class features. The large output X-ray high voltage generator capable of tube current levels of up to 630 mA (56 kW model) or 500 mA (32 kW model) provides shorter exposure times. It also minimizes blur in images even for larger patients, which contributes to improved diagnostic capabilities. The system has a 220 kg patient weight capacity, the highest in its class. It also provides a large examination range through a floating tabletop that can be slid either in a longitudinal or a lateral direction, and a support column and tube holder arm that can be moved longitudinally or laterally. This allows to freely position the patients without having to actually move them. It also features a mechanism that can rotate the X-ray tube by 180 degrees around the support column, which allows direct radiography of patients lying on a stretcher or sitting in a wheelchair placed next to the table, either on the far side or at 90 degrees to the side. By pressing a single button, the ‘onetouch guide’ displays the SID and cassette size required during radiography and whether or not a grid is needed. Optimal parameters can be specified from 432 radiography parameters registered in the system only by selecting the radiography technique, examination region, exposure direction, and body thickness. Furthermore, using these user-friendly features for smoother preparation process helps minimize the stress to patients caused by examinations. The system includes a removable grid mechanism that allows the grid to be removed to reduce radiation dose levels for children. A function that measures the dose-area product is part of the standard configuration. The integrated design combines X-ray tube support, Bucky table, and cabinet in one unit and can be installed even in very limited spaces. If the system is used infrequently, the energy saving function helps reduce power consumption while in standby mode. Consequently, it is an environmentally friendly product that saves 25 % energy and also helps reduce running costs.
