Glucose meter offers wireless connectivity

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Nova Biomedical’s StatStrip Glucose Hospital Meter System now offers bidirectional wireless connectivity to the hospital’s HIS or LIS with complete security to protect patient data. The wireless connectivity can transmit patient results directly from the patient bedside, alleviating the need to bring the meter to a fixed location for meter docking and data transmission. Wireless connectivity saves time for the caregiver and allows for faster charting of results and clinical decision making to improve patient care. StatStrip Glucose’s dual-band wireless connectivity provides complete security and encryption to ensure that patient data remains uncompromised. Nova now offers a full range of StatStrip Glucose wireless connectivity capabilities, including wireless meters, wireless carrying cases, and wireless docking stations. All of the wireless devices use industry standard POCT1-A2 data format and are compatible with a choice of middleware partners. StatStrip Glucose is the only glucose meter cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use with all patients, in all healthcare settings, including critical care. The device received this clearance in 2014 after an extensive, nearly four-year study conducted at five major university medical centres, which included 1,698 critically ill patients with over 257 clinical conditions. Over 8,000 medications were investigated for potential interference to StatStrip Glucose measurement. The device demonstrated excellent agreement compared to central laboratory reference methods and no clinical interferences were found. In addition to the study submitted to the FDA, 138 other independent studies over the last eight years

Atrial fibrillation detector

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

MyDiagnostick is a new diagnostic device (MDD IIa) for the detection and diagnosis of AF. It generates a Lead I ECG which is automatically analysed for the presence of AF. MyDiagnostick is very easy to use, with no buttons to control or parameters to be set. When holding the handles (electrodes) it will automatically switch on and start the ECG recording. After only one minute, the AF outcome is displayed by MyDiagnostick turning either red: AF detected, or green: no AF detected. After use, the device will switch off automatically. It is able to record and store over 140 ECGs and thousands of measuring results. ECGs and results can be displayed and printed whenever MyDiagnostick is connected to a PC or a laptop by the USB cable provided. The current Holter- and event recorders use ECG skin electrodes and need careful setting, thus requiring medical personnel. Furthermore these systems do not have embedded AF detection algorithms, which means that AF episodes can only be determined afterwards. The device does not depend on any infrastructure to diagnose AF and therefore can be used anywhere, anytime, also at the patient’s home or at work. MyDiagnostick has a clinically proven sensitivity of 100% and specificity of 95.7%, which allows also the early detection of paroxysmal AF.

Miniature in-line blood gas analyser

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The recently introduced Proxima in-line patient-dedicated arterial blood gas analyser offers the benefits of receiving blood gas results, just like blood pressure, within the patient’s bed space. The Proxima system represents the next step in blood gas point-of-care testing (POCT) as it is attached directly to the patient through their arterial line, in-series with the blood pressure transducer.  Without leaving the bedside, closed blood samples can be withdrawn frequently, analysed and then returned directly to the patient.  This enables rapid delivery of blood gas results to aid early decision making and closer control of therapy for critically ill patients, whilst also conserving blood and reducing nurse dependency

Ceiling-mounted tube option for imaging system

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

A ceiling-mounted tube option for the DRX-Ascend System provides versatile positioning for a variety of imaging exams. The DRX-Ascend System also offers a floor-mounted tube stand, wall stand and a choice of an elevating float-top table or non-elevating table. The new ceiling-mounted tube option is currently available for order. The DRX-Ascend delivers cost-effective, fully featured imaging that allows hospitals, imaging centres, orthopedic practices and urgent care clinics to select a configuration that satisfies their imaging workflow and budget. DRX-Ascend users and other healthcare providers are interested in a ceiling-mounted tube because it can deliver flexible patient positioning that helps radiographers perform imaging exams in less time, which can lead to greater productivity. The DRX-Ascend System can be configured with DRX-1 and DRX-1C detectors. Both detectors fit into the standard Bucky used in X-ray wall stands and tables. In addition, Carestream’s small-format 25 x 30 cm detector, the DRX 2530C, can be used for orthopedic and tabletop exams. Customers can also opt to install a fixed 43 x 43 cm detector for the wall stand. The multi-colour touch panel screen mounted at the tube stand gives radiographers remote generator control, displays image previews and allows review of previous images for the current patient. The DRX-Ascend system offers several detector holders to help radiographers perform cross-table lateral exams as well as other specialty views. Facilities can use a single DRX detector with the system or opt for two or more detectors to maximize productivity and efficiency.
