Transport ventilation for neonates

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The Hamilton-T1 with neonatal option is a high-end transport ventilator that provides the best possible ventilation therapy for the smallest and most vulnerable patients. During transport, the Hamilton -T1 delivers the same performance as a fully featured NICU ventilator at the bedside.  Supporting tidal volumes of just 2 ml, the Hamilton -T1 uses a robust neonatal flow sensor that accurately measures pressure, volume, and flow proximal to the patient. This guarantees the required sensitivity and response time, and prevents dead space ventilation. Therefore, the patient is better synchronized and the work of breathing (WOB) is reduced. The new neonatal expiratory valve can balance even the smallest differences in pressure and offers the neonate the possibility to breathe spontaneously in each phase of a controlled breathing cycle.  In addition to all modern neonatal ventilation modes, the Hamilton -T1 offers a new generation of nCPAP.  In the new nCPAP-PC (pressure control) mode, only the desired CPAP target value for the patient is defined and the ventilator automatically and continuously adapts the required flow to the patient’s condition and possible leaks. Thanks to the demand flow technology, the patient will receive only as much flow as is necessary to obtain the set CPAP target. This reduces WOB, reduces the need for user interventions and ensures optimal leak compensation.

HIS module for intensive care

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Compared with patients in the regular ward, charts in intensive care are much more complex, in view of the special requirements that apply there. In addition to the standard vital parameters, they include information on cardiac and respiratory function. The new ‘Critical Care’ module in the Soarian HIS, available in numerous countries, takes care of these requirements. Data from intensive care monitoring devices feeds automatically into the digital chart, which gives healthcare personnel a rapid overview of the patient’s condition. Unlike dedicated departmental systems for intensive care, Soarian ‘Critical Care’ is fully incorporated into the HIS.This means that information from intensive care can be viewed in the recovery or regular wards, depending on authorization levels. For instance, staff there can read

Anatomically intelligent ultrasound tool

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Under the brand name of HeartModelAI, a new anatomically intelligent ultrasound (AIUS) tool brings advanced quantification, automated 3D views and robust reproducibility to echocardiology and is Philips’fastest 3D AIUS ultrasound measurement method. Using HeartModelAI, clinicians can quickly, easily and confidently assess disease states, determine treatment, and guide related therapies. In a recent comparison at one hospital, clinicians were able to acquire and analyse the data necessary to calculate the dimensions and volumes of the left atrium and ventricle (LA and LV) between 3 and 6 times faster using 3D measurements and HeartModelAI  than with conventional 2D measurements and conventional volume and dimensional analysis. With a rich digital database of anatomical structural models and adaptive system technology, HeartModelAI has access to advanced clinical information that automatically adapts to variability in patient anatomy. This knowledge-based identification and patient-specific adaptation provides proven quantification of the left ventricle and atrium, and display of routine apical views.  HeartModelAI is part of a suite of new tools and technologies available on Philips’EPIQ 7 ultrasound system which has been designed to enhance automation and reproducibility.  HeartModelAI  helps to make the collecting of critical cardiac ultrasound measurements easier and more reproducible, which will not only enable time savings, but will hopefully extend the adoption of 3D echocardiography exams to more clinicians.

Two-in-one critical care ventilator

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The V680 ventilator for hospital respiratory care, offering both invasive and non-invasive ventilation, is designed for smoother transition from ventilation to natural breathing and helps enhance patient care and minimize ventilator-associated infection rates. It has been developed in partnership with physicians, leading to customized technology that can be simply and quickly adjusted to respond to patient needs. The goal is to speed the time to non-invasive ventilation, ultimately reducing hospital stays and the associated cost burden. Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) has become a standard of care for the management of acute respiratory failure, but there is a risk of leaks around the mask that may interfere with ventilator performance. As a result, patient-ventilator asynchrony, defined as a mismatch between the patient’s inspiratory time and the ventilator insufflation time, occurs in nearly 25 per cent of intubated patients. These high rates of asynchrony are associated with a higher incidence of weaning failure and tracheostomy, prolonged mechanical ventilation, fatigue, increased sedation needs and longer hospital stays.  A recent study to compare patient-ventilator synchrony during NIV between ICU, transport and dedicated NIV ventilators, found the use of a NIV ventilator on critically ill patients led to a significant decrease in the incidence of patient-ventilator asynchrony.  Moreover, dedicated NIV ventilators exhibited more standardized behaviour during the investigation, with an ability to avoid auto-triggering or delayed cycling while keeping a short triggering delay despite the presence of leaks.  The Philips V680 Ventilator is launched in several European markets. US launch is pending 510(k) clearance.
