Carestream’s latest version of image acquisition software includes innovative standard and optional features for its CR and DR systems: Bone suppression is designed to create a companion image to suppress the appearance of posterior ribs and clavicles while enhancing the visualization of soft tissue in the chest; and IHE Dose Reporting collects and distributes dose information from all Carestream DR and CR systems to a healthcare provider’s PACS.
The new bone suppression feature is designed to increase diagnostic confidence due to improved visibility of lung nodules and other pathology. Since the companion image is automatically generated from the original chest image, it will be available in seconds and requires no additional exposure to the patient or a separate X-ray exam. This feature will be available for portable and room-based CR and DR systems. Carestream’s existing image acquisition software offers the ability to create companion images from an original X-ray exposure that can enhance visualization of tubes, PICC lines and pneumothorax.

The large 12.1 LCD, high definition touch screen of the VitalMax 4000 patient monitor is fully configurable to the needs of any care setting. Standard functions include 3 or 5 lead ECG, non invasive blood pressure, SpO2, temperature, impedance respiration and ST segment analysis/arrhythmia analysis. The new Prime edition of the Acuson SC2000 cardiovascular imaging system is the first to offer live full-volume colour Doppler imaging of heart valve anatomy and blood-flow using a new true volume transesophageal echo (TEE) probe. With this technology, physicians can obtain a more anatomically authentic view of the heart and dynamic blood flow in one view during interventional valve procedures, even in patients with ECG abnormalities. This helps them to take faster and more accurate critical decisions. During 3D TEE imaging, the physician guides a flexible probe into the esophagus to acquire close-range, detailed pictures of the heart to assess valve function. When a dysfunctional valve leaks blood back into the heart chambers (known as regurgitation) or does not open properly to let through sufficient blood, a valve procedure may be necessary to repair or replace the valve with an artificial one. The Carestream Dryview 6950 laser imager is designed to produce rapid output of high-resolution images for all imaging modalities including mammography. In addition to CT, MR, CR, DR and other modalities, this new laser imager also will support output of full-field digital mammography (FFDM) and CR mammography images. It can deliver a maximum film density of 4.0, which is preferred for mammography. Key test patterns are included to assist with mammography quality assurance procedures and regulatory requirements. A built-in densitometer measures and displays key film density values, which can eliminate the need for manual density measurements from test films. The laser imaging system delivers from 160 to 250 films per hour with 650 pixels-per-inch resolution on every film size. Three film supplies come standard with the laser imager, and film size changes are made easy by simply exchanging the film cartridge. The intuitive user interface includes a multilingual touch-screen user panel with a built-in ‘help interface’ to simplify instruction, operation and user training. Each cartridge holds 125 film sheets to minimize loading frequency. An optional five-bin, top-mounted sorter provides quick access to desired patient films by modality for greater efficiency and control.
