Contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The RS80A with Prestige, Samsung’s premium ultrasound system, applies sophisticated imaging technology that empowers users’ confident diagnosis. Samsung’s CEUS+ provides superb resolution and improved uniformity with effective noise reduction, which help users acquire better clarity in the near field. Its automatic brightness control feature optimizes imaging in real time, enabling users to secure enough time to diagnose. The CEUS+, in particular, improves the diagnosis of small lesions and its clear expression of tissue boundaries helps users to achieve interventional procedures with ease and accuracy.

Prof. Paul S. Sidhu, Consultant Radiologist and Professor of Imaging Sciences at King’s College Hospital in the U.K., said, "The introduction of microbubble contrast agents during the sonographic examination has improved the characterization of focal liver lesions to such a level as to rival CT and Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging," adding, "The addition of a microbubble contrast agent immediately, as an adjunct to the B-mode sonographic examination has tremendous benefits in terms of diagnosis, alleviating patient anxiety, planning of management and is also cost-effective."

Continuous critical care patient monitoring during in-hospital transport

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Philips IntelliVue X3, a portable monitor with an intuitive smartphone- style operation, enables continuous monitoring during transport to support a more complete data record.
When patients are transferred from one department to another, clinicians often struggle with incomplete data records leading to inefficiency due to multiple systems operating independently. Getting a complete view into patient data to allow for informed clinical decision support requires manual steps and can contribute to a higher potential for error, especially when dealing with critical care patients. IntelliVue X3 integrates seamlessly into the existing IntelliVue Patient Monitoring system, including bedside and transport monitors, the clinical network and the Philips family of central stations. Data from the IntelliVue X3 is also integrated into mobile applications, the hospital network, and interfaces that connect the system to other medical devices and to the hospital’s electronic medical record (EMR) system. As part of this larger patient monitoring portfolio, X3 assists clinicians in providing the best possible care for patients across all levels of acuity and supporting institution-wide standardization. Health systems need accurate and transparent information and processes to help clinical staff make faster, more consistent decisions based on patient conditions and history. With the development of the IntelliVue X3, the aim is to ensure that data isn’t being lost during transitions so that clinicians are provided with all the information they need, when they need it. In addition to delivering complete data records, IntelliVue X3 provides a comprehensive and scalable set of clinical measurements, ranging from basic to advanced monitoring. It allows for advanced monitoring during stationary and transport situations, including dual invasive blood pressure, built-in mainstream CO2, a choice between three SpO2 technologies and state-of-the-art ECG/arrhythmia. The IntelliVue X3 has received the CE Mark in Europe. Pending 510(k), it is not available for sale in the U.S.

Capillary blood analyser for point-of-care testing

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Nova Biomedical recently announced CE mark certification for Allegro, a capillary blood analyser for point-of-care testing in primary care settings. Allegro and its StatStrip A companion meter provide 14 clinically important tests to monitor glycemic control, assess cardiac risk with a full lipids panel, and assess kidney function. All results are ready during the patient visit, simplifying clinic workflow and producing cost savings for providers, while offering clinical benefits for patients. All Allegro tests use easy capillary fingerstick sampling and disposable test cartridges or strips. To monitor glycemic control, Allegro provides HbA1c, glucose, and estimated average glucose tests. To assess cardiac risk, Allegro provides total, HDL, non-HDL, and LDL cholesterol tests, cholesterol/HDL ratio, and triglycerides tests. To assess kidney function, Allegro provides urine creatinine, urine albumin, and urine a1bumin/creatinine ratio, and blood creatinine with eGFR tests. Allegro is the only analyser that can measure HbAlc, lipids, glucose, and creatinine from a capillary sample. Its innovative design comprises dual measurement bays, which offers the unique ability to measure two cartridges simultaneously, doubling throughput and improving efficiency. Allegro’s companion meter wirelessly transmits results to the analyser, where they combine with all cartridge test results for one patient report. All results can be transmitted to electronic medical records for providers to review with patients during the visit. Having immediate results during the patient visit reduces clinic follow-up calls, letters, and patient re-visits, and improves patient satisfaction, compliance with care plans, and outcomes. Allegro provides a solution to a clear and fast-growing market need for point-of-care testing to support the management of diabetes and related comorbidities, such as kidney and cardiovascular diseases, in primary care settings. The analysers’ HbA1c accuracy is certified by the National Glycohemoglobin Standardization programme (NGSP), and total cholesterol and HDL cholesterol are certified by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control Cholesterol Reference Method Laboratory Network.

Mobile digital radiography system

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The newly launched GM85 provides advanced mobility, maximized user convenience and a high image quality.

Its ultra-compact design with 555mm narrow width and 349kg lightweight allow easy access around tight spaces, even in elevators. When moving the system in the hospital building, GM85’s collapsible column gives users clear visibility and help access anywhere easily. The adaptive soft driving control and automatic front bumper sensor offer safe navigation and an ultimate driving experience.
The system features a multi-touch screen panel, image display screen on the THU (Tube Head Unit), and extensive long tube reach for easier operation. The S-Align displays the detector’s angle to the THU for precise alignment, and the quick-positioning function optimizes workflow and decreases fatigue, enabling users to serve more patients. It can also power up from 0 to 100percent in only two to four hours and go on for a full day.

The GM85 goes further from this with advanced imaging which enables more accurate and confident diagnosis. It applies Samsung’s advanced imaging engine S-Vue to enhance image sharpness and clarity. The SimGrid is an application which, even without the need of a conventional grid, produces superior image by reducing scatter radiation effects. With the SimGrid, radiographers can provide better patient care and lower retake rates, as it eliminates alignment errors that often occur with a conventional grid. The Tube and Line Enhancement feature brings improved clarity of the tube and line in chest images through single on-screen click.
