Compact mechanical ventilator

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Requiring only a minimum of space, the HAMILTON-C1 mechanical ventilator combines maximum mobility with invasive and noninvasive modes, as well as high flow oxygen therapy. The integrated high-performance turbine enables the ventilator to be completely independent of compressed air. This makes it an ideal companion for all patient groups in the intensive care unit, emergency ward, recovery room or intermediate care, long-term acute care facilities, and during intrahospital transport. The HAMILTON-C1 offers the option of an integrated high flow oxygen therapy mode. With this enhancement, it provides a variety of ventilation and therapy options in one device, including invasive and noninvasive ventilation, and high flow oxygen therapy. In just a few steps, it is possible to change the interface and use the same device and breathing circuit to accommodate the patient’s needs. In pressure-controlled modes (PCV+, SPONT, PSIMV+), an optional feature enables the use of conventional speaking valves with the ventilator. Monitoring, triggering, and alarm management have been adjusted to allow their use.

Real-time dosimeter

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Unfors RaySafe, a Fluke Biomedical company, introduced the RaySafe i3 to its suite of real-time dosimetry products at this year’s European Society of Radiology congress in Vienna. The RaySafe Real-Time Dosimetry solution, introduced in 2012, helps physicians and clinical staff visualize X-ray exposure in real time using easy-to-read bar graphs displayed on a monitor. The instant feedback empowers medical staff to adapt their behaviour around radiation, to help minimize unnecessary exposure. The RaySafe i3 is designed to improve wearability, prolong life cycle and increase measurement accuracy. The RaySafe i3 can be used in low dose procedures and in hybrid OR environments. The device helps keep the medical staff in-the-know, at all times, about the level of radiation exposure, for themselves and their colleagues, in real-time. The decision to implement the RaySafe i3 shows a commitment and dedication by a department to keep their staff safe from excessive radiation exposure.

Carbon monoxide breath test

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Carbon monoxide is a colourless and odourless gas, making its presence difficult to detect. CO Screen has been designed to enable emergency service responders to carry out a simple breath test to establish carbon monoxide levels in a subject’s blood. When dealing with CO, time is critical. In the blood stream carbon monoxide has an affinity with hemoglobin some 200 times greater than oxygen. When this happens, the blood is no longer able to carry oxygen, and this lack of oxygen causes the body’s cells and tissue to die. CO Screen will give instant breath results in percentCOHb and PPM. Both measurements are backed up with colour traffic lights for immediate visual display. CO Screen complements the company’s CO Check devices for helping people to quit smoking.

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The RS80A with Prestige, Samsung’s premium ultrasound system, applies sophisticated imaging technology that empowers users’ confident diagnosis. Samsung’s CEUS+ provides superb resolution and improved uniformity with effective noise reduction, which help users acquire better clarity in the near field. Its automatic brightness control feature optimizes imaging in real time, enabling users to secure enough time to diagnose. The CEUS+, in particular, improves the diagnosis of small lesions and its clear expression of tissue boundaries helps users to achieve interventional procedures with ease and accuracy.

Prof. Paul S. Sidhu, Consultant Radiologist and Professor of Imaging Sciences at King’s College Hospital in the U.K., said, "The introduction of microbubble contrast agents during the sonographic examination has improved the characterization of focal liver lesions to such a level as to rival CT and Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging," adding, "The addition of a microbubble contrast agent immediately, as an adjunct to the B-mode sonographic examination has tremendous benefits in terms of diagnosis, alleviating patient anxiety, planning of management and is also cost-effective."

Continuous critical care patient monitoring during in-hospital transport

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Philips IntelliVue X3, a portable monitor with an intuitive smartphone- style operation, enables continuous monitoring during transport to support a more complete data record.
When patients are transferred from one department to another, clinicians often struggle with incomplete data records leading to inefficiency due to multiple systems operating independently. Getting a complete view into patient data to allow for informed clinical decision support requires manual steps and can contribute to a higher potential for error, especially when dealing with critical care patients. IntelliVue X3 integrates seamlessly into the existing IntelliVue Patient Monitoring system, including bedside and transport monitors, the clinical network and the Philips family of central stations. Data from the IntelliVue X3 is also integrated into mobile applications, the hospital network, and interfaces that connect the system to other medical devices and to the hospital’s electronic medical record (EMR) system. As part of this larger patient monitoring portfolio, X3 assists clinicians in providing the best possible care for patients across all levels of acuity and supporting institution-wide standardization. Health systems need accurate and transparent information and processes to help clinical staff make faster, more consistent decisions based on patient conditions and history. With the development of the IntelliVue X3, the aim is to ensure that data isn’t being lost during transitions so that clinicians are provided with all the information they need, when they need it. In addition to delivering complete data records, IntelliVue X3 provides a comprehensive and scalable set of clinical measurements, ranging from basic to advanced monitoring. It allows for advanced monitoring during stationary and transport situations, including dual invasive blood pressure, built-in mainstream CO2, a choice between three SpO2 technologies and state-of-the-art ECG/arrhythmia. The IntelliVue X3 has received the CE Mark in Europe. Pending 510(k), it is not available for sale in the U.S.
