Premium ultrasound for radiology

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

A premium ultrasound system designed for diagnosis in the radiology department, the RS80A, is Samsung Medison’s first product to target the radiology segment which is the largest portion in the diagnostic imaging market. The RS80A offers greater diagnostic confidence and accuracy through the latest innovations in imaging and usability. Superb image quality is supported by a 23′ full high-definition (FHD) LED Screen. S-Vision architecture provides outstanding images through newly developed S-Vision beamformer and imaging engine. These state-of-the-art technologies ensure detailed resolution and tissue uniformity for all types of applications in radiology and general imaging. The S-Vue Transducer gives broader bandwidth and higher sensitivity to enable exquisite image quality at depth. Samsung Medison has expanded its premium probe line-up to support diagnosis over various areas such as thorax, abdomen, carotid and thyroid. Special tools increase diagnostic confidence such as S-Detect which uses the standardized Breast Imaging-Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) score for analysis and classification of targeted regions.  S-Detect results in more effective diagnosis by reducing unnecessary biopsies and saving time through simplified procedures. E-Breast & E-Thyroid are the latest breast and thyroid ElastoScan (elastography), making it easier for users to distinguish benign from malignant masses through acquiring the strain ratio between the target and reference area faster than before. Efficiency is improved by the advanced QuickScan feature which allows important imaging parameters to be automatically adjusted, such as colour gain, location of the colour box and angle correction. Innovative design and usability features include a 3D Navigator and fewer keys on the control panel for ease of use and greater examination throughput. Users are given more operating space as the keyboard is embedded into the touch screen. The device can also remember the users’position as well as the height of the control panel every time they run the system.

Ventilation therapy during MRI procedures also for neonates

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

With the intelligent Hamilton‐ MR1 ventilator, patients can be moved from the ICU to the MRI suite and back without having to change anything about the ventilation, even when they areon an advanced mode. This diminishes the risks for lung de‐recruitment and a patient setback, which would keep patients in the hospital longer and make their stay more uncomfortable. The new Neonatal option now also optimizes the Hamilton‐ MR1 for MR‐compatible neonatal ventilation. With tidal volumes as low as 2 ml, safe and lung‐protective ventilation of even the most fragile patients is guaranteed. The IntelliTrig intelligent leak compensation function automatically adjusts the inspiratory and expiratory trigger sensitivity to potential leaks. This enables optimal synchronization with the neonate’s breathing pattern. The small and rugged housing, an integrated high‐performance turbine and powerful internal batteries make the Hamilton‐MR1 ideal for patient transport and easy to handle for the caregiver. The wide range of modern and classic ventilation modes guarantees that before, during, and aft er the MRI procedure, all patients from neonates to adults receive the same high level of ventilation care as at the bedside. The Hamilton‐MR1 is the first ventilator that can be used at a magnetic field strength of 50 mT, equivalent to 1 m distance for a 3T static magnetic field scanner, without creating any MR image artifacts. Positioning a medical device too close to the MRI scanner can have fatal consequences. For maximum safety, the ventilator continuously monitors the magnetic field with TeslaSpy, an integrated gaussmeter, and gives an audible and visual signal if it is getting too close.

Radiography/fluoroscopy systems with optional flat panel detector

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Carestream Health has entered the radiography/ fluoroscopy (R/F) market with two systems that deliver high-quality, cost-effective imaging: the DRX-Excel and DRX-Excel Plus. These systems can enhance workflow and perform contrast exams using fluoroscopy that can be associated with a radiography image, in addition to specialized contrast procedures that record both fluoroscopy and radiography sequences and interventional procedures. Carestream’s DRX-Excel systems are configured with a table and a tube in one system. An optional integrated flat panel detector produces high-resolution images for general radiography as well as fluoroscopic sequences. The DRX-Excel platform also is available as a conventional R/F system that uses either CR cassettes or DRX-1 detectors with an image intensifier. By expanding its product portfolio to include fluoroscopy, which is performed by many hospitals and imaging centres, Carestream enables healthcare providers to benefit from purchasing these systems from a single supplier. Both DRX-Excel systems offer a source-to-image detector distance of 180 cm, an ergonomic design and the ability to select an image intensifier for fluoroscopy or use the optional flat panel detector. The DRX-Excel Plus has an elevating table that tilts for fluoroscopy exams and can be lowered or raised to provide flexible, comfortable imaging for patients. Table weight capacity is 265 Kg (584 pounds). The DRX-Excel has a fixed table with a weight limit of up to 200 Kg (440 pounds) and has the tilt capability for fluoroscopy exams. Both systems feature productivity-enhancing capabilities including a positioning pedal that allows hands-free operation – which is helpful for interventional exams – and a remote control that can move the table from anywhere in the room. Other options include integration of a Carestream DRX detector; four-way float top table movement; and the ability to stitch multiple images together for long-length exams. These systems support Carestream’s X-Factor approach, which enables a DRX detector to be shared among an R/F room and other DRX mobile or room-based radiography or R/F systems.

Sound visualization display

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Noise levels above 50 dB(A) have been scientifically proven to negatively affect patient recovery and increase complications in surgery. Therefore, SoundEar has created a series of products for visualizing noise in hospitals.  Noise is an increasing challenge of the indoor climate in hospitals in line with temperature fluctuations and air humidity. Too much noise will affect staff and patients. However, it is impossible to resolve noise issues in hospitals without first knowing where noise is a problem and then being able to provide an instant alert. Because of that, SoundEar’s newest products are specially made for visualizing areas of noise and alerting the specific area in hospitals. Built in accordance with IEC 60601-1 (medical electrical equipment), SoundEar III is mounted onto a wall, showing the noise level in an easy to understand manner, and it emits a warning whenever the noise level gets too high.
