CT system enables scanning of most challenging patients

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

With the convergence of whole organ coverage, image quality, and speed found in GE Healthcare’s Revolution CT scanner, physicians are now able to diagnose even the most challenging patients. This innovative technology can help clinicians to diagnose more patients with erratic or high heart beats and also provide pediatric patients with sedation-free and low-dose scanning capabilities, among other clinical advances. The wide coverage of Revolution CT allows healthcare providers to scan entire organs such as the brain, heart, liver and pancreas, in a single 0.28 sec rotation reducing breath hold times for patients. Also, the speed of this new technology allows providers to gather information about function as well as anatomy, enabling a comprehensive stroke assessment of the brain in a single exam. Revolution CT comes equipped with ASiR-V, GE’s next generation of low dose technology which routinely reduces dose up to 82% with the same image quality. Furthermore, patient anxiety can be reduced as the scanner is 50% quieter than previous generation CTs while providing soft ambient lighting and personalized gantry displays. It can comfortably accommodate more patients with a larger 80 cm bore size. Patients may not be required to take special medication to slow their heart rate for a diagnostic cardiac exam due to Revolution CT’s fast imaging speed. Revolution CT delivers high definition imaging across the entire body, across all applications, including cardiac exams in a single heart beat; whole brain imaging in less than a second; low dose, whole organ diagnosis and follow-up for oncology patients; detailed boned imaging, even for patients with metal implants; and sedation-free and low dose scans for pediatric patients.

Sound visualization display

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Noise levels above 50 dB(A) have been scientifically proven to negatively affect patient recovery and increase complications in surgery. Therefore, SoundEar has created a series of products for visualizing noise in hospitals.  Noise is an increasing challenge of the indoor climate in hospitals in line with temperature fluctuations and air humidity. Too much noise will affect staff and patients. However, it is impossible to resolve noise issues in hospitals without first knowing where noise is a problem and then being able to provide an instant alert. Because of that, SoundEar’s newest products are specially made for visualizing areas of noise and alerting the specific area in hospitals. Built in accordance with IEC 60601-1 (medical electrical equipment), SoundEar III is mounted onto a wall, showing the noise level in an easy to understand manner, and it emits a warning whenever the noise level gets too high.

Multiple application ultrasound platforms

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Though requiring very little space, the ARIETTA platforms give highly resolved ultrasound anatomical detail due to the newly optimized generation, emission and detection of ultrasound signals, the improved signal processing, as well as the superb quality of the display. Using multi-layer crystal technology and an improved connector, the versatile range of probes achieves very high sensitivities from the enhanced signal-to-noise ratios, in addition to improved durability and handling. The sophisticated, flexible programming of the emitted and received ultrasound signals allows more precise control of the ultrasound beam, guaranteeing higher spatial resolution. Additionally, the new platforms are equipped with fast ultrasound-specific digital signal processors, supporting a great variety of application-related features and advanced data processing. The new ultrasound products are perfectly suited for many advanced applications, such as real-time virtual sonography for a side-by-side display of ultrasound and other modality results, e.g. CT or MRI; real-time tissue elastography, visualizing tissue strain in real-time and giving local stiffness information; 2D-tissue tracking for quantitatively evaluating the movement and the thickening of the cardiac muscle. Detailed ergonomic design that meets recommended industry standards supports a comfortable working environment and includes a 10,5 ‘ touch screen panel and a 21 ‘ IPS-Pro high-resolution monitor. Two way multi-rotary encoders enable the adjustment of many functions in one control, while the large palm rest at the centre of the operating console is designed to give optimum wrist support. The panel height can be lowered to 70 cm, allowing the operator to perform lower extremity examinations with a comfortable reach to the operating console. Compared with previous models the new systems are lighter by 45 %.

Diagnostic display for PACS and breast imaging

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Coronis Uniti is Barco’s latest response to specific challenges in modern radiology: increasing image volumes, growing complexity, and ergonomic stress. Radiologists’most important issues were brought to light a few weeks ago, when healthcare research agency The MarkeTech Group revealed the results of its most recent radiology survey. The study, which interviewed over 200 radiologists from Europe and North America, also offered clear insights into possible solutions. For example, the majority of respondents indicated that higher image quality, a more efficient workflow, and increased comfort would significantly increase reading performance. By supporting both PACS and breast imaging, calibrated colour and greyscale, 2D and 3D, and static as well as dynamic images, Coronis Uniti eliminates the need for multi-head display setups or moving to another workstation, thus increasing workflow efficiency while saving costs. Focused on driving productivity, Coronis Uniti is loaded with ingenious features that improve the reading experience. These include RapidFrame technology to ensure crisp and in-focus moving images and an innovative multi-touch pad for fast application control. The 12MP colour screen offers the highest resolution available on the medical imaging market today. Furthermore, to meet the DICOM standard for greyscale images and to guarantee consistent colour, the display is equipped with Barco’s SteadyColor calibration technology. Additional special features such as Color Per Pixel Uniformity to reduce screen noise and Ambient Light Compensation ensure that image quality is flawless, in any lighting environment. The MediCal QAWeb software for automated calibration and Quality Assurance guarantees top performance without interruptions. According to MarkeTech’s study, no fewer than 87 percent of radiologists experience physical discomfort when reading images, ranging from eye fatigue to back pain. With Coronis Uniti, Barco has paid special attention to ergonomics as well. The display optimizes the reading experience by mirroring a human’s natural field of vision. Its carefully designed format minimizes the need for head and eye movements, while also creating the perfect canvas for side-by-side comparison of multiple images. To reduce eye fatigue, the SoftGlow wall light adds ambient light to the reading room, while the SoftGlow task light shines a light on papers and film folders. Barco’s Optical Glass technology is also incorporated into the display, which reduces reflections and enhances image sharpness for greater viewing comfort. Additionally, Coronis Uniti can be turned into a virtual lightbox to compare film-based priors

Nova Biomedical’s StatStrip Glucose Hospital Meter System now offers bidirectional wireless connectivity to the hospital’s HIS or LIS with complete security to protect patient data. The wireless connectivity can transmit patient results directly from the patient bedside, alleviating the need to bring the meter to a fixed location for meter docking and data transmission. Wireless connectivity saves time for the caregiver and allows for faster charting of results and clinical decision making to improve patient care. StatStrip Glucose’s dual-band wireless connectivity provides complete security and encryption to ensure that patient data remains uncompromised. Nova now offers a full range of StatStrip Glucose wireless connectivity capabilities, including wireless meters, wireless carrying cases, and wireless docking stations. All of the wireless devices use industry standard POCT1-A2 data format and are compatible with a choice of middleware partners. StatStrip Glucose is the only glucose meter cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use with all patients, in all healthcare settings, including critical care. The device received this clearance in 2014 after an extensive, nearly four-year study conducted at five major university medical centres, which included 1,698 critically ill patients with over 257 clinical conditions. Over 8,000 medications were investigated for potential interference to StatStrip Glucose measurement. The device demonstrated excellent agreement compared to central laboratory reference methods and no clinical interferences were found. In addition to the study submitted to the FDA, 138 other independent studies over the last eight years
