Computed Radiography (CR) system

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The CR 30 Xm is a solution for digital mamm o g r a p h y and general radiography. This is a compact solution that can handle both mammography and general radiography applications, including full leg/full spine (FLFS). It can also be used in X-ray rooms and mobile facilities, making it suitable for initiatives like mobile breast screening. With this CR solution, lower volume hospitals and private practices can benefit from the workflow advantages of digital radiography. It requires no special electrical outlet installation, while the modular design offers easy maintenance, keeping total cost of ownership low. For mammography, the system offers images with very fine 50 micrometer pixel definition. The proprietary software analyses each image and automatically applies the appropriate image enhancement parameters independent of the examination type, while the workstation provides very fast image acquisition and a smooth workflow. Workflow is further enhanced by embedded memory in the cassettes, which links ID data and images throughout the entire electronic processing system.

CT for emergency room applications

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Enabling fast, high performance imaging with expanded capabilities for use in the emergency room, the Optima* CT660 FREEdom Edition also incorporates innovative dose reduction features. Based on exclusive FREEdom technologies (Fast Registered Energies & ECG), this innovative system represents a solution to ‘freeze’ coronary motion in higher heart rate coronary CTA exams by the introduction of intelligent motion correction via SnapShot* Freeze. Snap- Shot* Freeze can help significantly reduce coronary motion and overcome the inherent limitation of all hardware-only solutions. By precisely detecting vessel motion and velocity, SnapShot Freeze can determine actual vessel position and intelligently correct the effects of motion during cardiac CT exams. With the Optima* CT660, users can scan quickly in one pass with diagnostic image quality and images reconstructed in real time. The patient can be scanned in seconds and that is critical in emergency room visits. The Optima* CT660 allows extended coverage of 80 mm with VolumeShuttle, providing twice the brain coverage for a single bolus of contrast at lower dose than continuous acquisition techniques. The high power capability and thin slices of the Optima* CT660 also provide the demanding clarity needed for detecting small lesions. The system consumes up to 60% less energy than previous GE CT systems and boasts a 15% lower siting requirement compared to other 64-channel detector scanners. Over the life of the product, these substantial savings can translate into lower operational costs.

Non-invasive analyser for lung cancer patients

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Global cancer cases in both men and women in 2008 were estimated around 12.7 million and this number is expected to increase to 21 million. Lung cancer is one of the most common forms and figures suggest Europe and North America have the highest rates. Malnutrition is one of the most common symptoms of advanced lung cancer; timely identification and therapy can lead to improved patient outcomes. Prognostic biomarkers as established by the newly developed Maltron CScan could help select patients in cases where early discharge is safe. This would help redirect resources to patients in need. Maltron CScan is an easy and non-invasive technique to evaluate changes in cancer patients and is an independent prognostic indicator. Nutritional interventions targeted at improving biomarker results could potentially lead to an improved survival in patients.

Operating room (OR) integration

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The new TEGRIS system for OR integration is characterised by its powerful and compact nature. At around a quarter of the size of its predecessor, it is a flexible and space-saving unit for use in the operating room. All image sources, such as endoscopes, microscopes and OR field cameras, regardless of manufacturer, can be connected to the system thus guaranteeing flexibility in terms of endoscopy and imaging equipment. In this way, modern, new or further developed devices can also be easily integrated into the operating room environment at a later date. The system can interface to internal information systems, for example, an HIS or RIS, so as to enable all patient data to be made available at the touch of a button. This can be viewed by the entire OR team on all monitors. In addition, there is an integrated safety checklist, based on the World Health Organization’s principles.

Patient control during MR scans

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The Wide Bore 3.0T Caring MR Suite aims to enhance the patient experience through the assuring senses of sight, sound, and touch to make the environment for an MR scan less clinical. Through the interactive design, patients are able to choose one of 16 different themes from an intuitive interface custom- built for the iPad. With lighting, scenery and music that can be customised by the patient, it allows a patient to be transported to, for example, Tahiti for the duration of an MR examination. The design ergonomics of the system also allows a patient to choose the audio-visual content of the MR Suite to help reduce anxiety.Light, form, colour, materials and texture can transform the examination environment to, for example, a home library and fireside. The enhanced patient experience has been provided by the use of nature photography designed to help reduce the stress and anxiety of patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic medical procedures. The added benefit of a relaxed patient is an easier patient setup for the technologist and a minimisation of retakes.
