Medical AI, brain-computer interfaces and surgical robotics take centre stage at 94th CMEF

The 94th China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) Autumn Edition brought together clinicians, manufacturers and buyers at the Capital International Exhibition & Convention Center in Beijing from 21–24 October 2026. The programme centred on artificial intelligence (AI), precision diagnostics and surgical robotics.

The fair drew more than 120,000 healthcare professionals and about 3,000 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions, with visitors from more than 150 countries and regions. Across around 170,000 square metres, it covered digital health, intelligent medical devices, rehabilitation technologies and connected healthcare solutions alongside diagnostics and robotics. Exhibitors unveiled more than 1,000 innovative products.

Regional collaboration in focus

A central feature was the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Innovation Pavilion in Hall A4. It showed how combining research, engineering and clinical expertise across the region is moving healthcare innovation forward. Exhibits drew on Beijing’s districts, science and innovation industrial parks, pilot testing platforms and specialist technology companies. They spanned AI-assisted diagnosis and treatment, brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), smart medical devices, rehabilitation technologies and elderly care.

The pavilion programme also included healthcare reform discussions, hospital innovation project presentations and demonstrations of AI-powered mobile medical vehicles. “Youcu Plan” projects were released, and award-winning scientific and technological innovations were shown.

Medical AI beyond imaging

The Medical AI Frontier Zone highlighted Chinese work in medical robots, BCIs, embodied AI, healthcare AI models, high-quality datasets, innovative drugs, medical devices and 5G-enabled technologies. According to the organisers, AI applications are moving beyond medical imaging and diagnostic support into real-world clinical and operational settings. The zone served as a platform for technologies heading towards broader commercialisation.

A separate International Zone presented devices and healthcare solutions from overseas companies. It emphasised exchange between foreign firms, buyers and industry stakeholders.

Support for overseas buyers

The WeSeries programmes were built to help international buyers find suitable products and suppliers. The WeTalk stage hosted presentations from companies in medical robotics, surgery, surgical instruments, emergency and critical care monitoring equipment, and paediatric healthcare. The WeMatch Hub arranged one-to-one meetings between buyers and exhibitors. WeTour provided English-language guidance, customised tours, product demonstrations, hands-on experiences and consultations with participating companies. The aim was to help buyers turn first contacts into concrete collaborations.

Policy and clinical themes in the conference programme

More than 100 conferences, thematic forums and seminars ran alongside the exhibition. Topics included the Outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan, Three-Medical Linkage initiatives, the Medical and Health Foundation Strengthening Project, medical innovation, AI-assisted diagnosis, medical-engineering translation, medical insurance reform and the future of patient care.

Co-located events were the International Component Manufacturing & Design Show (ICMD), the China International Rehabilitation and Personal Health Show (CRS), the China International Elderly Care and Nursing Show (CECN) and the China International Home Care Exhibition (Lifecare).

CMEF is organised under RX Global, which runs more than 350 exhibitions and conferences annually across 22 countries and 43 industry sectors.
