Advanced visualisation applications

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Until now, radiology department access to 3D analysis required radiologists to interrupt their established workflow to access a separate, but necessary, advanced visualisation workstation. When access was cumbersome and required an interruption in workflow, there was a natural reluctance on the part of the radiologist to use 3D image analysis. Dexus is a seamless workflow environment that optimises a radiologist’s reading experience, from the moment of image acquisition through result reporting. Imaging devices, clinical applications and IT can be linked so that radiologists can access advanced visualisation tools across modalities and care areas from wherever they are. Centricity PACS combined with 3D advanced visualisation from AW Server underscores the concept of ‘IT Simplicity.’ In addition to the workflow benefits for radiology departments, IT staff can be relieved of the burden of having to maintain duplicate interfaces and sets of infrastructure.

Single use flexible intubation scope

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Re-usable scopes have high initial investment costs and high maintenance costs as they are repeatedly damaged despite staff training. In addition, flexible scopes are difficult to clean and disinfect because of their long and narrow lumens. The Ambu aScope 2 is a single use flexible intubation scope, which eliminates the risk of cross-contamination., This scope offers a solution to departments and clinics of all sizes. The use of endoscopic guidance during Percutaneous Dilatational Tracheostomy (PDT) is increasing. So, this scope offers a clear endoscopic view which allows the operator to see and verify the accurate placement of the guide wire and needle prior to tracheal dilatation as well as the placement of the tracheostomy tube.

Hand-held diagnostic ultrasound

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The portable M7 diagnostic Ultrasound System is designed to meet the needs of clinicians’busy and challenging pointof- care environments. With its clarity and clear image quality, it can perform any exam, from abdominal to vascular to cardiac. This system has a range of specialties in Radiology, Obstetrics/Gynaecology, Anaesthesiology/Emergency Medicine, Musculoskeletal and Cardiovascular and includes a variety of clinical measurement and analysis packages In radiology it has a variety of panoramic imaging and display modes, as well as image and colour sensitivity. In obstetrics/gynaecology, the design allows users to scan in 2D as with a standard convex probe, as well as offering 3D/4D acquisitions with increased speed for clinicians. It also has a larger scan angle for all convex probes and an OB percentile calculation, which demonstrates the accuracy of the estimation. In anaesthesiology/emergency medicine/ musculoskeletal medicine, the Spot Zoom Function provides high definition zoom capability to visualise subtle structures, one-key optimisation for both 2D and colour image as well as a high frequency linear probe. In cardiology, the system software provides an anatomic M mode (three lines), as well as Tissue Doppler Imaging, which is a tool to accurately evaluate myocardium motion. Embedded IMT (Intima-Media Thickness) software detects edge with mean and maximum thickness values.

World?s first wireless ultrasound

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The Acuson Freestyle ultrasound system features wireless transducers, eliminating the impediment of cables in ultrasound imaging. It facilitates the use of advanced ultrasound technology into clinical fields requiring a sterile environment, such as interventional radiology, anesthesiology, critical care, cath lab, or emergency care. Wireless transducers can also expand ultrasound into new and emerging applications, such as administering nerve blocks, enhancing vascular access, and improving target localization through ultrasound guidance during therapeutic interventions and biopsies. For image acquisition and processing, the Acuson Freestyle system employs advanced synthetic aperture imaging technology, an integration of proprietary hardware and software, which was specifically developed for the wireless signal transmission of full-resolution digital image data at very high data rates. Focusing on each pixel in the image, this method produces excellent image quality throughout the field of view. This design reduces the transducer’s power requirements, increasing battery life. Wireless real-time ultrasound data transmission is further enabled through the proprietary development of a novel ultra-wideband radio technology, which, operating at a high frequency of 7.8 gigahertz, is not susceptible to interference with other electronic equipment. Three wireless transducers are available for the Acuson Freestyle system, covering a range of general imaging, vascular, and high-frequency applications such as musculoskeletal and nerve imaging. The user can operate the transducers up to three meters away from the system, which includes an ergonomic interface that enables remote control of scanning parameters from within the sterile field. The Acuson Freestyle system has a 38-cm, high-resolution LED display. The system console can be mounted easily on a lightweight cart and also operates on battery power.

Blood gas testing system to prevent clotting

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

Clotting of samples is always a concern in POC testing systems, particularly in neonates for whom blood gases are the most common test performed. Clotting can lead to delayed results/ treatment, inconvenient analyser downtime and increased stress/work for hospital staff . The Roche cobas b 123 has been designed to eliminate the risk of clot blockages so that unnecessary disruption can be prevented and time and resources are not wasted. It can be used in critical care units, emergency rooms and other POC settings. It consolidates various critical care test parameters on one system, including blood gases, hematocrit, bilirubin, electrolytes, glucose and lactate, allowing medical professionals to obtain rapid answers to a broad range of medical questions. The analyser’s clot clearance feature stops clots

Digital in-bed scales

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

In-bed patient weighing scales allow for fast and accurate patient weighing in acute, geriatric, coronary and surgical departments. The IB800 has a capacity of 800 lb/350 kgs. Features include EMR/EHR-ready RS232 serial connectivity, full-swivel ball bearing casters for easy transport, a hydraulic lift mechanism to ease lifting, AC or battery power and BMI calculation. The scale’s lock/release key holds the patient weight to allow clinical staff to attend to the patient first before recording the measurement. The tare key allows the weight of bedding to be subtracted from the patient’s weight for additional accuracy. The scales for bed-bound patients come with flame-retardant, anti-bacterial 6-ft/1.8-m long stretchers which are placed underneath the patient and hydraulically lifted a short distance from the bed for weighing. They are available with fixed and adjustable bases to fit through a variety of door width clearances.

HD video camera

, 26 August 2020/in Product News /by 3wmedia

The MCC-3000MT HD video camera has been designed for capturing realistic 3D images from operating microscopes. The new camera, which uses 1/2-inch full-HD 3Chip-CMOS sensor, connects to the operating microscope and delivers extremely precise imaging in all three dimensions, therefore recording the exact same view that the surgeon sees through the microscope. Sony has leveraged its experience with broadcast and industrial 3D cameras to design a device that combines ease of adjustment with the high-precision, highresolution capabilities required for medical settings. While adjustment of 2-unit 3D cameras has typically been a difficult task, this new design allows the user to easily adjust colour matching, white balance, and similar parameters, directly from the control unit. The 3D video can also be displayed on a 3D-capable monitor, allowing everyone in the operating room to view the surgery’s progress. The realistic imaging can be used for teaching and training purposes and can be sent out over a network so that remote medical staff can provide high-level support as needed.
