Carestream showcases enhanced digital radiography systems
Carestream, a worldwide provider of medical imaging systems, showcased a range of digital radiography products at RSNA 2021 held in Chicago from 28 November to 2 December. This is a brief overview of a selection of them.
DRX-Evolution Plus
Carestream showed their premium X-ray system, the DRX-Evolution Plus designed for the high volume imaging needs of large hospitals, clinics and urgent care centres. The X-ray system has a number of enhancements, including a smaller tubehead profile with a larger display, to help radiographers conduct exams with greater visibility. An upgraded tabletop provides more range, making it easier and more comfortable for patients to undergo an exam. Functional LED lighting in several locations changes color as a patient exam progresses.
Jing Chu, Worldwide Product Marketing Manager at Carestream, said: “Since its launch, the DRX-Evolution Plus has set a benchmark for X-ray room imaging performance. With its modular design and new features, this state-of-the-art DR room helps radiographers easily monitor the exam process from patient positioning through image capture. These enhancements not only accommodate patients of varying sizes, but also result in improved workflow. Radiographers are able to perform exams faster and with greater ease.”
Lux 35 Detector
The company exhibited their first glass-free cesium medical detector for X-ray imaging. The new Lux 35 Detector provides reduced exposure dose compared to gadolinium detectors as well as excellent resolution and better image detail.
Weighing around five pounds (2.2 kg) (including the battery), the Lux 35 Detector is lightweight, making it easier for radiographers to transport and perform beside exams. It is glass-free and wireless and is redesigned with ergonomic features including bevelled edges, rounded corners and built-in finger grips for the radiographer. It supports a variety of image processing options to assist radiologists, including Tube and Line Visualization, Pneumothorax Visualization, EVP Plus, Bone Suppression and many more.
DRX-L Detector
Carestream also showcased their DRX-L Detector which has a large field of view (17” x 51”) (431 mm x 1295 mm) and high resolution to deliver high-quality leg and spine exams. A single-shot acquisition reduces patient dose, saves exam time, speeds workflow and minimizes repeats due to patient movement. The DRX-L Detector supports a wide array of Carestream digital X-ray products, including the DRX-Evolution Plus, DRX-Compass and DRX-Ascend systems.
Focus 35C and 43C detectors
Carestream’s Focus 35C and 43C detectors provide an affordable way for facilities to upgrade to full wireless digital imaging. These detectors are fast, lightweight and deliver high-quality image capture. They provide an ideal, budget-friendly way to tap the power of digital radiography. They work with Image Suite Software, designed specifically for smaller facilities and specialty practices like ortho- paedic, chiropractic and veterinary facilities
DR retrofit systems
Carestream also offers DR retrofit systems, providing an affordable pathway to imaging facilities that have not yet upgraded to digital radiography (DR). With these systems, facilities can upgrade to full wireless DR imaging at a fraction of the cost of purchasing a new system. Carestream’s retrofit solutions, for both fixed and mobile systems, use a single wireless detector to quickly and cost effectively convert existing equipment to full digital operation, delivering all the benefits of a DR system.
At RSNA 2021, Carestream exhibited their new Lux 35 detector, the company’s first glass-free cesium medical detector for X-ray imaging which provides lower radiation dose compared to gadolinium detectors.
