PIE Medical’s angio-based FFR solution, vFFR, Wins ‘Best Research Paper 2022-2023’ at EuroPCR Conference 2023.
EuroPCR’s ‘Best Research Paper 2022-2023’ was awarded to the FAST II study assessing the accuracy and diagnostic performance of the angio-based functional lesion assessment, vFFR by Pie Medical, compared to pressure wire-based FFR.
Instantaneous calculations, from two angiographic projection, occur to reveal the pressure drop using physical laws such as viscous resistance, eliminating the need for adenosine and a wire. The FAST II study strengthens the retrospective single-centre FAST I and FAST Extend studies findings; demonstrating vFFR’s excellent diagnostic performance to detect FFR (≤0.80), compared to pressure wire-based FFR (≤0.80).
With consistent correlations, vFFR has shown to be a reliable diagnostic alternative to invasive pressure-wire lesion assessment.
What’s next?
The FAST III trial is investigating vFFR for fast physiological assessment of stenosis severity, randomising 2,228 patients to vFFR vs invasive FFR with a one year patient-oriented clinical endpoint.
