FUJIFILM Sonosite unveils portable MT ultrasound system
FUJIFILM Sonosite has introduced the Sonosite MT, a clamshell-design ultrasound system engineered to deliver clinical imaging capabilities in a compact, mobile format. The system joins the company’s existing portfolio of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) devices, including the Sonosite PX, LX, and ST models.
Design optimised for clinical mobility
The Sonosite MT features a “grab and go” clamshell form factor that enables operation both on and off its stand, addressing the need for rapid deployment across varied healthcare settings. The system incorporates an all-touch interface with a buttonless monitor and control panel, designed to streamline cleaning and disinfection protocols – a critical consideration for infection control in clinical environments.
“At FUJIFILM Sonosite, our mission is to empower clinicians with ultrasound systems that perform reliably in the most demanding clinical settings,” said Richard Fabian, president and chief executive officer of FUJIFILM Sonosite, Inc. “Sonosite MT exemplifies this mission by integrating our core product pillars: durability, reliability, and ease of use.”
Technical specifications and workflow integration
The system delivers high-resolution imaging whilst maintaining a lightweight, compact profile for transport between care settings. Its touchscreen interface harmonises with FUJIFILM’s broader ultrasound portfolio, intended to reduce training requirements when clinicians transition between different system models.
Integration with Synapse Synchronicity workflow manager enables data management and clinical operations coordination. This interoperability supports medical informatics workflows, allowing image capture and patient data to flow through existing hospital information systems.
Durability and operational reliability
FUJIFILM Sonosite has engineered the MT system to withstand clinical environment demands, emphasising system uptime and consistent performance. The design addresses the physical stresses associated with frequent transport and varied operating conditions typical in emergency departments, intensive care units, and other acute care settings.
The buttonless control panel represents a departure from traditional ultrasound interface design, eliminating crevices where contaminants might accumulate. This design choice reflects growing emphasis on device surfaces that can be efficiently disinfected between patients.
Clinical applications
The Sonosite MT targets point-of-care applications across diverse patient populations, providing imaging support for diagnostic procedures at the bedside. The system’s mobility profile makes it suitable for environments where traditional cart-based ultrasound systems may be impractical.
Fabian noted that the system “continues our journey of excellence, providing a portable ultrasound platform that supports both clinical confidence and operational efficiency.”
