Single crystal innovation brings laboratory precision to clinical settings

The EG-740UT represents a significant technological advancement in endoscopic ultrasound imaging. While single crystal technology has become standard in conventional ultrasound devices, Fujifilm has pioneered its miniaturisation for integration into interventional endoscopes. This specialised engineering achievement delivers highly sensitive echo detection with reduced noise interference, potentially eliminating the need for additional signal processing.

When coupled with Fujifilm’s advanced imaging modalities – including Detective Flow Imaging (DFI), Contrast Harmonic Imaging (CHI) and ShearWave Measurement (SWM) available on ARIETTA® ultrasound platforms – the endoscope provides exceptional resolution and penetration depth compared to previous generations.

“I’m excited about the European-wide launch of our ultrasonic endoscope and the opportunity to support clinicians with greater comfort and confidence during their work, both endoscopically and through ultrasound imaging,” said Anne Bunk, Endoscopy Product Manager at Fujifilm Healthcare Europe. “With the EG-740UT, we are marking significant advancements in interventional EUS and EURCP with an all-encompassing EUS solution that supports the diagnosis to treatment journey.”

Technical specifications optimised for therapeutic applications

The EG-740UT has been specifically engineered for interventional procedures, featuring a 4.0 mm working channel that accommodates therapeutic instruments. Its slim insertion portion incorporates a short bending radius with high deflection capabilities, enhancing manoeuvrability during complex interventions.

A key design improvement focuses on minimising the blind area between the working channel outlet, ultrasound scanning area and endoscopic view. This optimisation enhances procedural visibility, potentially improving clinical outcomes during both diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic intervention.

Integration of cross-disciplinary imaging expertise

Fujifilm’s development of the EG-740UT draws upon the company’s extensive imaging heritage spanning more than 90 years. This comprehensive approach integrates expertise from endoscopy, radiography and ultrasound disciplines to create a unified solution for endoscopic ultrasound applications.

The device exemplifies Fujifilm’s strategy to serve as a comprehensive imaging partner for clinicians working in interventional endoscopic ultrasound. This approach streamlines workflow from initial diagnosis through therapeutic intervention by providing consistent imaging technology throughout the clinical pathway.

European debut at ESGE Days 2025

Healthcare professionals can experience the EG-740UT firsthand at the upcoming European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) Days 2025 in Barcelona, April 3-5. Fujifilm will showcase the technology at Booth #04 and EndoRunner Square #22.

Additionally, Fujifilm will host an Industry Symposium on Friday, 4th April, featuring presentations from international faculty discussing their clinical experiences with the technology and exploring the scientific principles underlying its development.
