Fujifilm advances ultrasound capabilities with AI-powered DeepInsight update
FUJIFILM Healthcare Europe has announced significant improvements to its DeepInsight ultrasound technology, introducing enhanced imaging capabilities through artificial intelligence and advanced beamforming technology aimed at supporting early diagnosis and treatment planning.
Advanced beamforming enhances diagnostic precision
The latest iteration of FUJIFILM’s DeepInsight ultrasound system introduces sophisticated beamforming technology that provides enhanced visibility of complex tissue structures. The system’s AI-powered imaging capabilities emphasise tissue structures with improved gradation, offering clinicians more detailed diagnostic information for clinical decision-making.
Technical specifications demonstrate imaging advancement
A notable technical feature of the updated system is its compatibility with FUJIFILM’s proprietary CMUT (Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasound Transducers) Silicon Wafer Technology. The CMUT probe, available for the Arietta 750DeepInsight and 850DeepInsight models, operates across a frequency bandwidth of 22-2 MHz, facilitating optimal acoustic matching with human tissue structures.
Focus on workflow efficiency
The system update addresses the practical demands of modern radiology departments by incorporating features designed to reduce examination times whilst maintaining diagnostic accuracy. According to Anne-Laure Jet, European Ultrasound Product Manager at FUJIFILM Healthcare Europe, the technology was developed using deep learning approaches to meet user requirements whilst contributing to healthcare development.
“Pursuing the development of user-friendly solutions, FUJIFILM Healthcare Europe offers the next stage in diagnostic technology with our latest update of DeepInsight,” said Jet. She emphasised that the AI-based solution, incorporating new beamforming technology, provides flexibility throughout the patient journey.
Implementation considerations
It is noteworthy that whilst the system employs machine learning AI technology, FUJIFILM has clarified that the performance and accuracy of the system remain stable post-implementation, rather than automatically evolving. This characteristic may be particularly relevant for healthcare facilities considering the integration of AI-based imaging solutions into their clinical workflows.
Maria Paola Aquilone, European Marketing Manager Ultrasound Systems at FUJIFILM, highlighted the technology’s potential impact on patient care: “We are excited to introduce our latest ultrasound technology, which delivers a deeper imaging clarity and precision, empowering healthcare professionals to support more accurate diagnoses and enhance patient care.”
Availability and distribution
The updated DeepInsight system will be available across European markets from 9th November 2024, specifically for the Arietta 750 and 850 DeepInsight models. This release coincides with FUJIFILM’s recent 90-year anniversary as a healthcare and imaging technology provider.
The development represents a continuation of FUJIFILM’s focus on diagnostic imaging technology, with particular emphasis on supporting early diagnosis and treatment planning through enhanced visualisation capabilities.
