Advanced AI integration across imaging portfolio
Esaote Group has presented its latest medical imaging innovations at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2025 in Vienna, with artificial intelligence technology now fully integrated across its diagnostic portfolio. The Italian company, which specialises in ultrasound, dedicated magnetic resonance imaging and medical IT systems, has implemented AI tools designed to optimise clinical workflows, reduce examination times and enhance image quality.
The integration of AI technology aims to support clinicians in making more rapid, data-driven diagnostic decisions with greater confidence. This approach is evident across all of Esaote’s imaging solutions showcased at the congress.
New e-SPADES platform promises significant MRI time reduction
In the magnetic resonance imaging segment, Esaote has launched a new AI platform called e-SPADES. Developed through collaboration with Amsterdam University Medical Center and AIRS Medical, this technology reportedly can reduce overall MRI examination times by up to 60 percent compared to conventional scanning protocols, whilst maintaining high image quality standards.
This advancement addresses one of the persistent challenges in clinical MRI: balancing examination throughput with diagnostic accuracy. By substantially reducing scan times, the platform could potentially increase patient access to MRI services and improve departmental efficiency.
Ultrasound portfolio expansion with C-series unveiling
Esaote’s ultrasound division has expanded its portfolio with the introduction of the new MyLab C30 system, unveiled at the congress on 27 February. This addition complements the existing MyLab C25 to form Esaote’s new C-series of ultrasound systems.
The company’s “Augmented Insight” AI technology now powers Esaote’s entire ultrasound range, from the premium MyLab X90 to the newly introduced C-series models. These newer systems combine portability with performance and feature cleanable touch keyboards and gesture-enabled trackpads designed to facilitate smooth workflow.
According to Esaote, the AI integration particularly supports advanced applications in abdominal, prostate and breast imaging, enabling radiologists to perform more accurate minimally invasive interventions with improved procedural confidence.
EBIT introduces cloud-native PACS with zero-footprint technology
EBIT, Esaote Group’s healthcare information technology subsidiary, has showcased SUITESTENSA ZefiRO, its new cloud-native Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Drawing upon 25 years of experience in enterprise imaging, the system employs zero-footprint (ZFP) technology to provide physicians with system-independent access to medical images from any location.
This approach aims to improve diagnostic processes and treatment management by removing traditional barriers to image access. The PACS also incorporates Suitestensa fAInd, an artificial intelligence platform that offers access to numerous clinical applications designed to streamline reporting and workflow.
Focus on diagnostic accuracy and guided interventions
Franco Fontana, CEO of Esaote S.p.A., highlighted the company’s ongoing research and development focus: “We are proud to present our latest technological innovations in the field of imaging to healthcare professionals. Our ongoing R&D efforts are focused on improving diagnostic accuracy and image-guided interventions by leveraging powerful technologies that increasingly rely on AI and advanced software applications as their backbone. Our new MRI and Ultrasound portfolio is supported by integrated IT platforms that enable healthcare professionals to focus on precision patient care.”
Global presence and manufacturing capabilities
Esaote Group, which reported having 1,300 employees at the end of 2024 (half based in Italy), maintains facilities in Genoa and Florence, with dedicated production and research units in both Italy and the Netherlands. The company states that its products are currently available in over 100 countries worldwide.
