electronRx launches pDx app for remote lung monitoring
Cambridge-based digital medicine company electronRx has announced the launch of pDx, a medical-grade application designed to enable remote monitoring of chronic respiratory diseases through smartphone, laptop, or tablet devices. The technology will debut at HLTH 2025 in Las Vegas (19–22 October), offering clinicians new capabilities for assessing cardiopulmonary function without requiring in-person consultations.

Camera-based biomarker detection technology
The pDx platform utilises device camera sensors to capture and analyse blood flow biomechanics, generating digital biomarkers that translate into clinically relevant physiological metrics. These include heart rate, respiratory rate, and tidal volume measurements. The system transmits data in real time to healthcare providers through a secure clinical dashboard, enabling dynamic treatment adjustments based on continuous patient monitoring.
The application builds upon electronRx’s proprietary purpleDx technology, incorporating customised questionnaires and expanded device compatibility. Patients can now access the platform across multiple device types according to their preferences, whilst receiving immediate feedback on their cardiopulmonary status alongside their clinical teams.
Addressing global respiratory disease burden
Chronic respiratory diseases, including asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension, represent the third leading cause of death globally. The pDx system aims to reduce hospital visit frequency whilst empowering patients to manage their conditions more effectively at home.
“electronRx is dedicated to transforming the lives of people living with breathing disorders. pDx represents a major step forward in personalised respiratory care and we very much look forward to demonstrating the technology at HLTH,” said Dr Bipin Patel, CEO and founder of electronRx. “The platform’s scalable architecture supports integration into existing care pathways, allowing for proactive intervention and reduced reliance on in-person visits. By facilitating continuous monitoring, pDx helps clinicians personalise care whilst improving patient adherence and reducing healthcare burden. Most importantly, it gives patients greater flexibility and control over their healthcare journey.”
