Neusoft Medical Systems launches photon-counting CT in China
Neusoft Medical Systems has announced that its NeuViz P10 photon-counting CT (PCCT) has received market approval from China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA). The system represents the first photon-counting CT approved in China and the world’s first wide-body system equipped with an 8-cm detector.

Direct photon detection technology improves image quality
The NeuViz P10 employs a cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) detector that captures and converts each X-ray photon directly into a digital signal, bypassing the conventional CT process of first converting X-rays into light. This direct conversion method produces images with enhanced clarity whilst reducing radiation exposure for patients and improving tissue differentiation capabilities.
Clinical applications span multiple specialties
The system’s ultra-high resolution capabilities enable visualisation of small cardiac vessels, early detection of tumours, and accurate identification of neurological conditions. The technology also facilitates safer lung examinations through reduced radiation exposure, enabling disease detection at earlier, more treatable stages.
Integrated platforms support clinical workflow
The NeuViz P10 incorporates four innovation platforms: NeuPhoton Counting, Photon Supersonic, Photon Intelligence, and Photon Research. These platforms provide accelerated scan times, enhanced safety protocols, intelligent workflow support, and expanded clinical research capabilities.
“The approval of NeuViz P10 is a milestone for China’s medical imaging industry and for global CT innovation,” said Patrick Wu, chief executive officer of Neusoft Medical Systems. “This technology empowers radiologists with clearer images at lower doses, giving patients earlier and more accurate answers whilst delivering maximum clinical value for public health.”
Neusoft Medical Systems maintains operations in over 120 countries and regions, serving more than 14,000 customers, with a historical installed base exceeding 50,000 units as of the end of 2024.
