Fujifilm launches advanced ELUXEO 8000 endoscopy system in Europe
Fujifilm Healthcare Europe has launched its next-generation ELUXEO 8000 endoscopy system in Europe. The ELUXEO 8000 features new therapeutic capabilities, enhanced workflow management and superior image quality. The advanced platform marks the first in a series of innovations under the company’s ‘WELCOME, FUTURE’ initiative.
“We are delighted to announce the release of our new endoscopy platform and series of innovations to support the important work of endoscopists across Europe. We look forward to receiving valuable feedback from our customers as we work together to strengthen the future of endoscopy technology,” said Takemasa Kojima, Managing Director, FUJIFILM Healthcare Europe.
New ACI mode enhances therapeutic capabilities
A standout feature of the ELUXEO 8000 system is the newly developed Amber-Red Color Imaging (ACI) mode, designed to support detection of bleeding sources and enhance minimally invasive third-space endoscopy treatment. While studies are ongoing, early expert feedback suggests significant clinical benefits.
Professor Pradeep Bhandari from Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust commented: “I think using (ACI) to identify the muscle versus submucosal plane keeps you in the right plane all along and makes your ESD safer and quicker. This will reduce the learning curve of beginners and make ESD more widely available.”
Professor Alessandro Repici, Director of Digestive Endoscopy at Humanitas Research Hospital in Milano, Italy, added: “ACI is a significant step ahead in the features that are provided by Fujifilm endoscopes. It’s very useful not only for the third space but in general for advanced therapeutic procedures… thanks to this feature of ACI, it’s very relevant from a clinical standpoint, from the outcome, and from the safety standpoint.”
Dr. David J. Tate, Interventional Endoscopist at Ghent University Hospital, Belgium, noted the efficiency improvements: “The addition of ACI, I think, is key for therapeutics because it allows people, even those who are experienced at, for example, tissue resection, ESD, to perform the procedure, I would say, quicker with a similar safety profile due to the optical characteristics of being able to recognize the plane better and deal prophylactically with bleeding.”
Improved workflow management and intuitive operation
The ELUXEO 8000 system emphasises workflow efficiency to support clinicians in their daily practice. The platform includes features to prevent accidental double insufflation of air and CO2 and enables water irrigation at the touch of a button.
A notable addition is an optional 15-inch touchscreen tablet with a user-friendly interface for more intuitive operation. This allows physicians to record DICOM-compatible images and videos for documentation. Fujifilm has indicated that further development will enhance connectivity and data integration capabilities.
Cross-disciplinary imaging expertise delivers superior visuals
Drawing on Fujifilm’s expertise across imaging domains, the ELUXEO 8000 incorporates technology from both X-ray and ultrasound specialties. The system features triple noise reduction technology (3NR) with extended dynamic range, resulting in improved sharpness and enhanced brightness optimisation in both near and far fields.
When paired with the newly released 800 series endoscopes, the ELUXEO 8000 delivers what Fujifilm describes as their “cleanest and brightest endoscopic image yet,” supported by the latest CMOS sensor technology and 4K output.
Professor Edward John Despott, Consultant Interventional Endoscopist at The Royal Free London and The Wellington Hospital, summarised the system’s capabilities: “The Eluxeo 8000 series is a tremendous new processor that not only brings better imaging, tailor-made for enhanced diagnostics including state-of-the-art linked colour imaging and blue light imaging, tried and tested both for detection and characterisation; but also, lends itself extremely well to very high definition 4K imaging using CMOS chips and the most impressive ACI designed for third space endoscopy.”
