Siemens Healthineers introduces flexible imaging software solution

Siemens Healthineers has unveiled Syngo Flexinity, a novel approach to medical imaging software access designed for healthcare institutions. The system offers scalable, on-demand access to the company’s complete imaging software portfolio, allowing healthcare providers to adapt to changing clinical demands without predicting exact software requirements or locations.

Flexible licensing transforms radiology workflows

The new offering comes in two versions: Syngo Flexinity for CT and MRI, focusing on acquisition, reconstruction and image review; and Syngo Carbon Flexinity, which provides post-processing capabilities across all modalities, including advanced visualisation and artificial intelligence applications.

Both solutions address a significant pain point in medical imaging departments—the need to predict software requirements years in advance. Instead of purchasing fixed numbers of licenses or limiting concurrent users, institutions can now scale their software access according to actual usage patterns.

“With Syngo Flexinity, we offer access to a complete suite of imaging software – available everywhere when it is needed,” said André Hartung, head of Diagnostic Imaging at Siemens Healthineers. “We’re providing a new way to reduce complexity in everyday operations. Customers can scale up or down, based on actual needs, focusing on what matters most – their patients.”

Usage-based pricing model supports operational flexibility

The Syngo Flexinity model utilises volume-based pricing, where institutions pay according to the number of clinical cases processed annually. This approach eliminates the need for separate purchasing processes when new applications become available, as users automatically gain access to the latest innovations and software updates.

For radiology departments struggling with standardisation challenges across diverse scanner fleets, this could potentially enhance productivity by ensuring consistent software availability. The solution addresses workflow bottlenecks related to staff planning and patient scheduling that often arise from inconsistent software availability across multiple systems.

Clinical operations optimisation

Syngo Flexinity for CT and MRI encompasses all software offerings for these modalities, including future innovations. The package covers the entire imaging chain from acquisition to reconstruction and review, whilst also providing operational optimisation across customer fleets.

Meanwhile, Syngo Carbon Flexinity delivers advanced visualisation and AI capabilities wherever they’re needed within an organisation. This approach aims to streamline clinical operations and improve both patient care and departmental efficiency by removing administrative barriers to software access.

The new solution represents part of Siemens Healthineers’ broader strategy to simplify healthcare technology implementation. The company reported approximately €22.4 billion in revenue for fiscal 2024 and employs around 72,000 people worldwide.

It should be noted that whilst some components of the Syngo Flexinity portfolio are available now, certain products remain under development and are not yet commercially available.
