Carestream Health\u2019s DRX-Revolution Nano Mobile X-ray System is helping to avoid the possible spread of hospital-acquired infection from adult patients to the youngest patients in Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health System\u2019s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
\nVCU Health, an academic medical centre, installed the DRX-Revolution Nano as a unit dedicated solely to the NICU.
\n\u201cHaving one system dedicated to the floor will help reduce the chances of hospital-acquired infections going from patient to patient and room to room,\u201d said Robert Jarvis III, Diagnostic Imaging Modality Manager at VCU Health.
\nThe DRX-Revolution Nano\u2019s compact footprint allows for easy positioning in critical care units, while providing high-quality digital radiography imaging.
\n\u201cWe made the purchase with the mindset that it will support the NICU population in our hospital, and the small footprint makes it easy to get in and out of the rooms,\u201d Jarvis added.
\nVCU Health has a large fleet of Carestream DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray Systems, as well as the Carestream DRX-Evolution Plus system.
\nCarestream\u2019s X-Factor platform lets facilities share the same wireless detector seamlessly across all Carestream DRX products and allows technologists to move easily between different systems with minimal training time, speeding up workflow and exams.
\n\u201cThe biggest advantage is the graphical user interface with the software,\u201d said Jarvis, who also praised Carestream\u2019s image quality. \u201cI can train someone on the DRX-Evolution Plus because it\u2019s the same software on the DRX-Revolution and the Nano. They can go to any Carestream system and pick it up right away.\u201d
