Philips has announced that its Radiology Operations Command Center Console has received EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) certification for remote scanning capability, enabling expert radiologists to remotely control scans and assist technologists in real-time across multiple locations in Europe.

The vendor-agnostic solution allows imaging experts to edit MR, CT or PET-CT scanner consoles remotely from any location, providing on-demand collaboration through chat, voice and video, without compromising privacy or security.

Healthcare providers across Europe are facing significant challenges with skilled technologist shortages, particularly for complex examinations such as cardiac MR. The Radiology Operations Command Center aims to address this issue by enabling remote collaboration between imaging experts and on-site technologists.

“Healthcare providers are increasingly confronted with the challenge of not having enough skilled technologists to meet the demand for patient imaging exams, particularly for more complex exams such as cardiac MR,” said Shez Partovi, Business Leader Enterprise Informatics at Philips. “With Radiology Operations Command Center Console’s remote scanning capability, we are further empowering clinicians to deliver the timely diagnosis that patients deserve and helping to deliver better care for more patients.”

A pilot study conducted at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London demonstrated a 9% increase in total scanning throughput resulting from reduced scan times and a zero exam recall rate over the study period.

Martina Salomon, MR application specialist at Med360° in Leverkusen, Germany, shared: “With the Radiology Operations Command Center, we can support multiple locations in real time. We utilise the expertise in our Command Center to ensure that every site has access to it. This helps us to improve efficiency and maintain the same level of care at all facilities.”

The Radiology Operations Command Center is designed as a vendor-agnostic, multi-modality imaging solution. It can be used with multiple vendor MR, CT or PET-CT configurations, seamlessly connecting imaging experts in a command centre with technologists at scan locations across their organisation.

The remote scanning capabilities aim to help with precise, first-time image acquisition, supporting more efficient and enhanced patient care.

The Radiology Operations Command Center Console with remote scanning capability is currently available in several European countries including Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, France, and Italy.

Regulatory status: The system has received EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) certification for its remote scanning capability, with Notified Body number 0344.

Philips has announced that its Radiology Operations Command Center Console has received EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) certification for remote scanning capability, enabling expert radiologists to remotely control scans and assist technologists in real-time across multiple locations in Europe.

[316,6

post-19694","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-medtech","category-product-news
